Chrysler car manufacturer operates within the FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) group. This group has published business plans for the coming period. These plans also include the offer of brand new models. On the list of innovations, there are also two models from the crossover SUV segment, which will carry the Chrysler badge. One of them will be 2018 Chrysler Aspen, while the second SUV novelty has no more detailed information. The Chrysler Aspen is designed as a model that which is intended primarily for buyers in the US market. As Chrysler already used the name Aspen for its SUV model, it is very likely that one of the future Chrysler SUV models will be named.
New Chrysler SUV’s
Apart from the fact that the presented business plan announces new models, some of the previous models will be withdrawn from production. The 2018 Chrysler Aspen was supposed to inherit the Dodge Journey SUV. This shift was expected in 2017 and 2018 respectively. However, the company announced a brand new generation of Journey models.
In all likelihood, the new Aspen SUV will be a completely new model. This model gets a platform from the Jeep Cherokee K8 model. It is a version of the Cherokee model with extended inter-axis distance and three rows of seats, which is intended for Chinese customers. These two models should have great similarities, with the Chrysler version coming with something “poor” equipment. Like the Chinese K8, and the new Chrysler SUV also comes in the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) edition. The release date is mentioned in 2018. That’s why this model could be 2019 MY.
Another crossover, signed as Chrysler, comes as a twin model of the new Chrysler Pacifica MPV. About this model has less information than the one that will be based on the Jeep Cherokee K8 model. It is only known that its production should begin at the moment when production capacities are released. The capacities will be free when the company decides to withdraw from the Dodge Grand Caravan production.
The previous Chrysler Aspen, was a full-size three-row SUV, which appeared in 2006. This model was based on the Dodge Durango SUV at that time, and it was distinguished by the Hybrid Drive. It was also the first model with this powertrain, which Chrysler launched on the market.
As we announced, the new Chrysler SUV, based on the K8 model, gets the PHEV tag, and the hybrid drive. This points to the possibility that this model will be named Chrysler Aspen 2018. In contrast, there is another announced Chrysler SUV, based on the new Pacifica MPV. As a matter of fact, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid version is available, and this model could be called the Aspen.
2018 Chrysler Aspen Design and Specs
The 2018 Chrysler Aspen will be a full-size three-door SUV. Just like the old model. The vehicle will provide maximum comfort and convenience. As such, the new model is found to be an ideal choice for a colossal family. Certainly, a certain dose of luxury and high level of equipment are guaranteed. As a direct competitor, this model is set for Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Pilot and Nissan Pathfinder.
